Grace Jones has made a big promise. When she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, the 69-year-old supermodel said her new documentary, Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami, will cover her wild old days. In the 1970s she hit Studio 54 and partied with the best of them, including Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.

Jones also shared where the inspiration behind the famed Chic track Le Freak.

With Fallon showing her a photo of herself on stage at the iconic club, Jones said of the pictured night, ‘That night, a lot of people couldn’t get in. It was snowing.

‘I remember Nile Rodgers was so upset, and I worked with Nile years later and he couldn’t get in, and apparently he went home and he wrote, “Aaahh F-off,” because he couldn’t get in and it turned out it was one of his number one songs…. Aaahh freak out.’

Jones sparkled in a black dress with sequin stripes that had a great deal of shiny sable fringe on the ends. Underneath she sported a pair of black leggings as well as heeled gladiator boots.

The singer used pink makeup to highlight her famed facial features and wore a long necklace along with fingerless gloves.

It took director Sophie Fiennes 12 years to create her documentary about Jones, and the Icon discussed the meaning behind the film’s name.’When you are in the studio with Sly and Robbie there is a red light that goes on and off when you’re not supposed to go in the recording studio and they say, the bloodlight is on, so that’s the bloodlight.’Then added, ‘Bami is a food I love in Jamaica, very healthy, but you can fry it, you can bake it, you can boil it, so when you get jerk – everyone knows about jerk chicken – they serve you either bami or festival.
‘I don’t like the festival, I like bami. So I just say, ‘I’m a Bami girl.”

‘So of course the film is about my professional recording life, my performance life, my home life in Jamaica, so the two together. You get bloodlight, and the bami is eating at home with the family,’ she explained.
