Serena Williams is thankful for Meghan Markle. She knows she can always count on her close friend. They started leaning on each other for their advice for their big moments in their lives. In an interview with Australia’s The Project which took place 3 days after her US Open defeat, she said, they stay in touch regularly. Williams lost to Naomi Osaka, who is 20-year-old and also had a heated argument with the umpire Carlos Ramos. She blamed him, for stealing a point, by calling out sexism on the tennis court and still didn’t get any punishment.
The two became friends in 2010and met at a Super Bowl party. Not only when Williams was in England, she went to watch Prince Harry Polo but also Markle made it, to her match in Wimbledon. Serena was one of the lucky few people who get to attend Markle’s royal wedding to Prince Harry. She said, “The whole service was wonderful and most of all, I just wanted to see my friend be happy and I think that’s what happened.” The bond continues to grow over the years. Both of them are paving their way around the world and are proving that friendships can span across continents.
