Red Table Talk is a web series hosted by refined actress Jada Pinket Smith. The show stirs up a lot of heated debates and emotions, even when it comes to her own marriage. One of Hollywood’s most invigorating couples, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith gives us a life lesson in marriage and relationships. In the series she, along with her mom Adrienne Banfield-Jones and her daughter Willow Smith, talk about the world around them from the viewpoint of three generations.
In a teaser for a new upcoming show, Will Smith joins the Red Table ladies for discussion, and it seemed to get pretty deep.
In a sneak peek for web chat show, they got down to the nitty-gritty of their past struggles. Will sheds genuine tears as he recants hitting rock bottom in their relationship. He spoke to his daughter with pain in his eyes and said, “ There was a period where mommy woke up and cried 45 days straight,” Smith said to their only daughter, Willow. “I started keeping a diary.”
Jada softly chimed in, “You missed some days,” showing all is forgiven, but not forgotten. Willow seemed in shock hearing about her parent’s marital woes and revealed that she had no clue that their relationship ever reached that point. The 17-year-old simply replied, “Damn,” in a low murmur.
Will continued, revealing his true feelings, “It was every morning. I think that’s the worst I ever felt in our marriage. I was failing miserably.” In addition, in one bit, Will recalls what Jada said last season on the show, that they don’t consider themselves married anymore, but instead, life partners.
But not everything seemed so heated during their discussion. Will spiritedly says to his wife before sitting down at the table, “You’re not breaking me today, Jada.” She simply replied, “I’ve broken you enough.” Then, when Jada starts talking about how she dated a lot before they got married, Smith pretended to get up, saying, “All right, I’ve had enough of the Red Table.”
At the end of another clip, Jada lightheartedly pointed to Will and told him, “You did cry at the Red Table. We did get you!”
Being married 21-years speak volumes in any relationship, and one would be a fool to think that a union of two decades can go smoothly without encountering any low-points. There will be uphill battles and let downs, along with tears and struggles. Anything else would be a miraculously, rare marriage. Not saying that it can’t be done, but a perfect marriage would need to have two perfect people. When you find those people walking the earth, let me know.
A lot of people brush off celebrities like they don’t have a real life with real emotions; like their marriage is a joke or a publicity stunt for all to gawk at and judge. But no, these people have real lives, and many find real love. I think Will and Jada did just that and they continue to triumph and grow in their affections for one another. This shows that through perseverance and effort, you can push through marital issues and make it work, that is of course if both parties are willing and able.
I guess we should stay tuned to get all the juicy details on the couple’s relationship along with other celebrities’ conversation, viewpoints, and topics. Red Table talk kicks off October 22 with the couple discussing their marriage over the years. Other guests for the season will include Leah Remini and a discussion on Scientology, as well as Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo, who will talk about race. It seems like the Red Table ladies are stirring the pot this season and it will be a season we won’t want to miss!
