Will Smith was born and raised in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born on 25th September 1968, celebrating his big 50th birthday today. He has achieved some incredible things with his life and no one can argue over it. But of course, he wasn’t this huge Hollywood Movie star from his mother womb. He came to this position with his hardwork. He entered the entertainment industry step-by-step.
His first step was being a “rapper”. When he was 16, he met Jeff Townes at a party and they together launched their successful rap “The Fresh Prince”.
The rap clean lyrics describe a wide range of topics, like the life of a teenager and fighting Mike Tyson, for which the audience went wild.
Once Will and Jeff appeared in a talk show called “Switchback”. Though it was their earlier interviews, they were not much determined about the promotion of their music, instead seemed really chilled.
Will made his first single “Girls Ain’t Nothing but Trouble” which later appeared in his debut album “Rock the House” in 1987. The album makes its space on number 83 in the Billboard Top 200, which turned him into a millionaire at the mere age of 18.
Just 8-months later, in January 1988, he came up with his second album “He’s The DJ, I’m the Rapper” which was again hugely popular among the teenagers because of the song “Parents Just Don’t Understand”.
In 1989, Grammy Awards, introduced a new category, Best Rap Song. “Parents Just Don’t Understand” won the category and became the first rap song to win that category.
At that time, he was just 20 years old. It was his first reward. At the age of 20, Will lived a dream life, which any teenager would have dreamt of at this age. A life where you can buy motorcycles, cars and designer gears if you had millions of dollars. Soon the riches bubble burst. He had to face the tax payments and IRS took everything, including his expensive things.
Will again step into the world of entertainment with “TV star”. He said, his girlfriend motivated him, so instead of laying at the house for thewhole day, and to “go where people are doing it”. He went to “The Arsenio Hall Show” and met Benny Medina, a music producer. Benny introduced him to Quincy Jones, who produced the show “TV Star.” After 10 minutes of the audition, he was handed over the contract and his acting career started.
In 1995, he met his wife Jada, they started dating and married in 1997. His success and circumstances made him what he is today. In 2007, Newsweek said Will to be the most powerful actor in Hollywood. Currently, he is the only actor who has 8 consecutive films, which has a gross of over $100 million in the US domestic Box Office. He has also produced some movies, still, he continues putting impressive musical performances whenever he gets a chance.
